Help Make My Film Production Journal Entry -July 21, 2003

 Today has been one of those days that makes me question why I'm doing this. I've spent the past month working on bringing this project to life and  today I started running into brick walls. When you're "not" a  non-profit, which as an artist you really are, it's very hard to get people  to help you reach your goals. I've been approaching sponsors to help with  some of my fundraisers and if I hear "we don't really work with individuals,  we only like to work with charities" one more time, I think I'm going  to scream. I've raised money and sponsorships before for people doing events  so I know how to do it, but when you don't really have a track record with  your venture, it's so hard to get people involved. I can't say that I didn't  expect this, in fact I've been anticipating it. However, when you start  slamming into those walls, it rattles your confidence and makes you wonder  if it's really worth doing. It just reminds me, you can't make independent films because you're driven by the allure of money. This is an art that  requires a lot of work. The only thing I hate is that it takes so much  work to get to create your art.

 Anyway, onward and upwards. I knew this wasn't going to be easy when I started and I'm not about to give up now. I just have to keep trudging  forward. I know that I'll hear "no" more often than not, but  I'll just have to keep looking forward to that precious word "yes"  when I finally hear it.
