Help Make My Film Production Journal Entry - November 5, 2004

Wow, time sure flies. I have been working on getting the band gigs so we  can get out and play around town. Unfortunately, the bass player that I  wanted to use backed out of the first gig because he had to go out of town  to sell some apartments that he owned down in South America. So as a result,  I've had to practise with another bass player for this first gig. So I'm  going to try several bass players until one works out with the band. It's  so hard to find good players that will commit right off the bat.

Our first gig is next weekend and I'm so excited about getting back out  on stage. It's been awhile and I definitely need to get back out there  to perform.

Today, I talked to the first recording studio about sponsoring some recording  time to get a demo together for the band. Boy was I irritated after that.  I figured I would start with the big guys first and called Criterion Studios.  You know, the legendary studio that has recorded some of the most amazing  bands in the history of music. I got in touch with the studio manager "Trevor"  and he was horrible. I don't mind someone telling me that they don't donate  time or sponsor projects but this guy was just downright rude and obnoxious.  After I started telling him a little about my project and asked him if  this is something they might be interested in getting involved with he  actually said "so does this have a cause or are you trying to get  something for free." Hey how about helping me show other artists that  through perserverence you can actually create your art? I just told him  thank you for your time and hung up.

Even though that was the first call and a negative experience, I have a  list of many studios throughout South Florida and I'm not giving up. The  one thing that I have learned is that eventually someone will "get"  what I'm doing and say yes to helping. I just have to keep making calls  to find that yes.

So that was my day. I'm going to take a nap before I start working on some  new music that's floating around in my head. New entries coming soon.
